Position Overview

Great Outdoors is seeking an experienced Landscape Operations Project Manager specializing in softscape and understanding hardscape installation to join our Ann Arbor team. This year-round role oversees the daily production of approximately 3 to 4 landscape crews (totaling 6–8 team members) handling Landscape Installation Projects. You will ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of landscape excellence.

Core Responsibilities

  • Crew Management: Direct daily operations, scheduling, and routing for 3-4 field crews.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage materials, equipment, and vendor deliveries for seamless workflows.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct on-site walkthroughs to verify project completion based on scope and quality standards.
  • Client Relations: Serve as a point of contact for project updates, timelines, and expectations.
  • Design & Collaboration: Partner with sales and estimating teams to clarify design intent, scopes, and change orders.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and proper equipment operation on all job sites.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor project hours, crew productivity, and overall job profitability.
  • Team Development: Support hiring, training, onboarding, and morale-building for field crew members.
  • Seasonal Transitioning: Lead execution for spring startup, summer peak, fall cleanup, and winter snow operations.
  • Field Documentation: Track and log project progress using photos, detailed notes, and field reports.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in landscape supervision and hardscape/softscape installation.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of landscape plants, regional horticulture, and design principles.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret design plans, blueprints, proposals, and project scopes.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Experience operating trucks with trailers, skid steers, plow trucks, and standard landscape machinery.
  • Leadership: Exceptional organization, problem-solving, and team-building capabilities.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
