The Yard assistant will oversee all rental operations in the warehouse and yard. They are responsible for working directly with the rental office while working collaboratively with the warehouse staff, inventory manager, and municipal management, marshalling municipal staff, and maintaining efficient rental operations in the warehouse and yard. They communicate solutions and ideas to management, oversee inventory checks, and report deficiencies.


Please note that this is a contract position with a possibility of being extended based on Operational Needs.


What you will be responsible for:

Management and Coordination:

  • Works collaboratively with Manufacturing - Operations Manager, Municipal Operations Manager, and company management.
  • Marshal municipal staff to increase efficiency in the yard.
  • Manage daily operations in the warehouse and yard.
  • Keep the Municipal Operations Manager apprised of technicians in the yard so turnaround times can be decreased.


Inventory and Warehouse Operations:

  • Spot check inventory on trucks coming in and going out.
  • Identify deficiencies with orders and report them to management.
  • Ensure technicians are returning items to the proper location in the proper order.
  • Maintain organization in the yard by ensuring products and signs are safely and neatly stored.
  • Ensure rental items are stocked to minimum levels.


Technical Support and Assistance:

  • Assist technicians with loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Spot check technicians' vehicle circle checks for proper completion.


Communication and Compliance:

  • Communicate solutions, suggestions, and ideas to management.
  • Enforce inventory controls by ensuring administrative protocols are followed.
  • Follow all health, safety, and security rules and procedures.
  • Performs effectively as a member of the team.
  • Act as a company representative and set an example for staff.

What we need from you:

  • Valid G-class driver's license, your own vehicle, and a clean driver's abstract (Required)
  • Available to work full-time Monday - Friday between 5am - 3pm(Required)
  • Have strong verbal and written English communication skills(Required)
  • Vision and hearing abilities that allow one to perform all work requirements safely (Required)
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 100 lbs. withgood overall physical stamina(Required)
  • Ability to work in various inclement weather conditions (heat, snow, rain, etc.)(Required)
  • You will be required to provide your own CSA Grade 1 (green label) work boots with a minimum 6-inch cuff and electrical shock resistance (white label with omega symbol)
  • Forklift experience/certification(Asset)
  • Experience driving trucks/towing a trailer(Asset)
  • Ability to maintain composure and exhibit grace under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain order in the yard and warehouse
  • Strong commitment to following health, safety, and security rules/procedures
