Job Overview
Mariani Landscape is seeking top talent to join our team as an Enhancement Designer. This position assists Client Representatives in preparing quality enhancement landscape designs, estimates and proposals for presentation to clients. This position interacts with the design and sales staff on a regular basis.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards.
  • Produces quality landscape design with supporting materials such as sketches, elevations, rendered plans, etc.
  • Creates quality and unique designs within budget parameters and on a timely basis.
  • Assists Design Team in preparing project packages of required drawings, estimates and proposals.
  • Communicates with Client Representatives (CR) as required to update project status.
  • Meet with CR and client to learn scope of project, client needs and acquire feedback from client to create client's vision.
  • Appropriately follows and maintains design process and standards, including planting standards and AutoCAD standards.
  • Works independently and within a team on special and nonrecurring, as well as ongoing projects.
  • Provides accurate, professional plans and details for enhancement department and sub-contractors in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Develops grading and drainage plans in accordance to site engineering principles, if necessary.
  • Uses appropriate survey equipment on various client sites.
  • Ensures efficient process and information flow for workload requirements.
  • Identifies zoning and building codes, permit requirements, etc. related to project if necessary.
  • Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet internal and external client expectations.
  • Prepares accurate estimates and take offs.
  • Develops Budget sheets and Proposals.
  • Maintain high standard of quality of all work performed.
  • Communicate problems, client concerns, associate matters, etc. to the Design Director in a timely manner.
  • Able to work with enhancement production team scheduling projects and reviewing projects, with Project Coordinators (PC) before installation.
  • Work with PC, helping with field layout and crew supervision.
  • Participate in weekly departmental and training meetings.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner and ensure accuracy of all paperwork, including, time-off requests, and other necessary information.
  • Arrive for each work day on time and prepared.

Non-essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in and contribute to Mariani initiatives.
  • Assist in the orientation/training of new Team Members.
  • Assist other team members in the performance of their assignments.
  • Recommend process improvements and areas to improve our service offerings to clients.
  • Participate in other department and business functions as needed (i.e. the snow removal process in emergencies, holiday retail, administrative support, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Have at least 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in the landscape industry (i.e. design internship, etc.) preferred.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of landscape terminology, plant materials, applicable construction materials and coordination in design.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of site engineering and use of survey equipment.
  • Ability to understand the "Mariani" approach and follow Mariani standards.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, including taking direction and constructive feedback from team members, as well as providing feedback to other team members.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to perform duties wherever volume deems it necessary.
  • Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with Mariani associates and clients on a consistent basis.
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and eventually use, with success and accuracy, the company software (Aspire) and systems for estimating and designing.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to self-development and continuing education.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of general computer functions and programs.
  • Demonstrate accountability for work being performed and completed on schedule.
