Job description

Position Summary:

We are representing a well-established, union-signatory general contractor seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations across complex public works, site development, and mechanical infrastructure projects.

This role is ideal for a boots-on-the-ground leader who understands the nuances of heavy civil scopes—wet utilities, flatwork, foundations, and structural concrete—and thrives in fast-paced environments with multiple trades and moving parts. Projects range from athletic fields and park developments to pump stations, lift stations, and mechanical system installations.

You’ll work closely with project management and field crews to maintain productivity, schedule, safety, and quality, and ensure timely delivery across some of the most visible and impactful infrastructure projects in Southern California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day onsite operations, including subcontractor coordination and self-perform crews

  • Ensure all work aligns with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations

  • Lead daily tailgate meetings, site logistics, and jobsite setup and sequencing

  • Oversee execution of key scopes: wet utilities, site concrete, masonry, landscaping, and mechanical installs

  • Support layout, surveying, and coordination of trades

  • Work with the PM team to track progress, RFI resolution, and material deliveries

  • Maintain and update daily reports, as-builts, and field logs

  • Conduct safety inspections and uphold compliance with Cal/OSHA and site-specific protocols

  • Serve as the field liaison with inspectors, city agencies, and owners/clients

  • Participate in project scheduling, phasing, and look-ahead planning

Project Types Include:

  • Park and recreation developments

  • Athletic field and stadium construction

  • R&R roadwork and street improvement projects

  • Wet utility infrastructure (sewer, storm, water)

  • Lift stations, pump stations, and tanks

  • Structural and site concrete (sidewalks, pads, retaining walls)

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Superintendent experience on heavy civil, mechanical, or public works projects

  • Ability to lead crews across multiple scopes and trades

  • Background with union projects, prevailing wage requirements, and public agency coordination

  • Deep understanding of wet utilities, flatwork, structural concrete, and mechanical scopes

  • Strong scheduling, documentation, and team leadership skills

  • Proficiency with daily reporting and construction documentation tools (e.g., Procore, Excel)

  • OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid certifications preferred

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to active jobsites within Southern California

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Paid time off, sick leave, and holidays

  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance (depending on project logistics)

  • Long-term career advancement potential with a well-respected, growing GC
