Job description

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • 6 months to 3 + years of land surveying experience.
  • Experience assessing land for projects and collecting data on physical land features to support CAD designers.
  • Motivation to grow within they land surveying field.
  • Great communication, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Mechanicsville, VA area (from New Kent to Fredericksburg to Powhatan) with the provided company vehicle.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Progression toward licensure or currently licensed (LSIT, SIT, FS, FE, Junior LS or LS, or PLS)
  • Junior Licensed Surveyor (LS / PLS)
  • Civil Engineering experience

Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a Land Surveyor to support a utility and infrastructure client in Mechanicsville, VA. This role gives the opportunity to work for a major engineering servicing client that supports large companies in telecommunications and utilities. This role will lead survey efforts across rural subdivisions and utility corridor projects, managing field crews and office teams while delivering accurate boundary data for design and construction. The ideal candidate can own projects end-to-end, adapt to shifting priorities, and keep work moving in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

- Review project plans and oversee field crews and drafting teams

- Perform and oversee boundary surveys, including:

- mapping subdivisions and corridors

- researching deeds and property records

- recovering property corners and site features

- Use Carlson and AutoCAD to create accurate survey maps and drawings

- Convert field data into deliverables for design and construction teams

- Support construction staking and layout, ensuring accurate field placement

- Perform QA/QC on survey data and team output

- Track project timelines and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule

Compensation: $25-$33/ hour depending on experience plus benefits (health, vision, dental, 401k).
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7AM-3PM with occasional overtime.
