$37.580 - $48.490 - $54.300


 

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 12/30/2025 to 01/06/2026. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or external candidates to Sharp.


What You Will Do
To present approved curriculum for prenatal and postpartum classes; designed to provide information and techniques to childbearing couples and their families. Provide educational classes for women of all ages, to promote good health. The emphasis is to provide correct and updated information, instilling confidence in the participants and increase their awareness of available support services.
Required Qualifications

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
  • Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) - Various-Employee provides certificate -REQUIRED
  • Certified Childbirth Educator (CCCE) - Various-Employee provides certificate OR ICEA Certified Childbirth Educator (ICCE) - Various-Employee provides certificate OR Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) - Lamaze International -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 Year as an active certified childbirth educator.


Essential Functions

  • Class preparation
    Sets up room and equipment as needed; verifies participants have appropriate course materials; documenting any changes to course roster.
    Prepares equipment as needed.
  • Class facilitation
    Follows SHC criteria.
    Facilitates group discussions.
    Demonstrates effective teaching methods appropriate to the patient's age, developmental level, gender, cultural background, language and education.
    Evaluation of participant's learning via return demonstration of skill, verbalization of understanding.
    Utilizes feedback from participants in making recommendations to approved curriculum that increase the opportunities for participants learning.
    Shares classes and services available through Sharp HealthCare to participants in classes. Encourages participant(s) to complete class evaluations.
  • Customer Service
    Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with participants and staff members.
    Handles problems in a professional and proactive manner. Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation and responsiveness.
    Exhibits effective communication strategies in an effort to create positive first impression with individuals as well as groups of participants, significant others, and members of the health care team.
    Ensures positive activities/interactions with other departments and co-workers by providing appropriate, adequate and accurate information.
  • Professional responsibilities
    Demonstrates teamwork, excellent communication, cooperation and responsiveness.
    Maintains specialized skills certifications.
  • Health education
    Able to access and provide patients with evidence-based patient education materials.
    Assists in the development of collateral and program materials.
