Since its inception in 1905, the Carnegie Mellon Department of Chemical Engineering has been on the leading edge of research and innovation in chemical engineering. Today, this is more true than ever. The Laird research group at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to support data analysis, application development, and research objectives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Advancing capabilities in optimization-based conceptual design for new process development and improved process understanding.
  • Development of open-source tools for training and optimization of machine learning surrogates.
  • Interacting with multiple faculty members within the department, as well as industrial and federal project sponsors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
