Agile is seeking a highly experienced Data Acquisition and Controls Systems (DACS) Engineer to drive the technical direction and architecture of our DACS team in support of hypergolic propulsion systems testing. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and technical mentor who will design robust system architectures, guide program teams, and coach fellow engineers. You will balance high-level technical decision-making and project planning with hands-on development, ensuring safety, long-term reliability, and pragmatic execution.


 This position is onsite in Durango, CO. 


Responsibilities

  •   Lead the architectural design, strategic planning, and development of control and measurement applications used in propulsion testing.
  • Mentor and coach engineering team members, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and excellence.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and troubleshoot software in NI LabVIEW (including LabVIEW FPGA and LabVIEW Real-Time).
  • Architect and manage hardware-software interfaces for diverse sensors (e.g., pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs) and control mechanisms (e.g., solenoid valves, VFDs, throttling valves).
  • Familiarity with NI PXIe (R-Series), NI cRIO, DAQmx, and LV FPGA.
  • Establish, enforce, and ensure compliance with rigorous software development standards and best practices.
  • Oversee the integration of test/measurement instruments (power supplies, oscilloscopes) and the implementation of communication protocols (VISA, TCP/IP, serial).
  • Act as a champion for safety and long-term system reliability across all testing and development operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site at our testing facilities in Durango, CO.
  • B.S. or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field with a strong programming background.
  • 12+ years of relevant engineering experience; 8+ years of experience with LabVIEW; 5+ years of experience with Actor Framework; 8+ years of experience designing and debugging low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming fundamentals and languages such as Python or C++.
  • Experience working within Linux and Windows environments.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, communicate complex ideas effectively, and manage time proactively with a detail-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) Certification.
  • Demonstrated, multi-year experience as a technical team leader or architectural lead.
  • Familiarity with NI PXIe (R-Series), NI cRIO, DAQmx, and LV FPGA.
  • Experience designing and operating safety-critical systems.
  • Strong understanding of computer networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP, firewalls).
  • Experience with high-speed signal integrity practices.
  • Proficiency with modern development and tracking tools (Git, GitLab, WSL, JIRA, SSH).

 This position is open across multiple levels (Senior, Senior II, and Staff Engineer). Final leveling will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and overall qualifications during the interview process.

Employment Type: Exempt

Salary: $123,000 - $215,000 annually. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity, and is typically made within the midrange, rather than the upper end. The posted salary band reflects the compensation range for candidates located in Colorado, in compliance with Colorado state law.
