Job description


Position Title: Embedded Software Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting Direct Hire opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer with our client in Pasadena, California.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain software that drives test and measurement systems and pulls data from connected hardware components
  • Support the migration of legacy LabVIEW-based functionality into a modern C++ and Python architecture
  • Design and implement software that communicates with connected systems using SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments) and VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) protocols
  • Design and implement software modules and algorithms that support system functionality (measurement, control, calibration, automation, data processing)
  • Own and maintain the software stack for assigned systems
  • Collaborate with multiple team members across the hardware/software stack
  • Support future FPGA integration as systems evolve down the road.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline required
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in embedded software development, systems programming, or a closely related discipline
  • Proficiency in C++, C#, and Python
  • Working familiarity with LabVIEW sufficient to understand and migrate existing functionality
  • Experience with instrumentation communication protocols such as SCPI and VISA
  • Experience developing software that interfaces with hardware components and captures measurement or sensor data.
