To thrive as a Laborer, you need physical stamina, basic math skills, and the ability to follow instructions, which typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand and power tools, safety equipment, and sometimes OSHA certification is important for operating safely and efficiently. Dependability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are vital soft skills for success in this role. These skills and qualities ensure that laborers can perform physically demanding tasks safely, efficiently, and collaboratively on job sites.

Job Title: Construction LaborerJob Description

This role supports site work on a variety of construction projects by performing general labor tasks in an outdoor environment. You will work closely with equipment operators and other crew members, learning on the job and contributing to activities such as grading, trenching, material handling, and assisting with pipe and sewer line installations. No prior experience is required, and you will receive hands-on training in all necessary skills.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with site work on a range of construction projects, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure sites.
  • Hold and operate a laser level stick while heavy equipment operators grade and level the site.
  • Perform shoveling, trenching, digging, and other manual labor tasks to support site preparation and excavation.
  • Crush and move stone and other materials as directed to support grading and backfilling activities.
  • Assist with installation of pipe and sewer lines, including preparing trenches, handling materials, and supporting the crew.
  • Follow directions from supervisors and equipment operators promptly and accurately throughout the workday.
  • Work safely and efficiently in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather.
  • Travel independently to various job sites, sometimes as far south as Greenwich and as far north as Orange.

  • Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time, being prepared for the workday, and completing assigned tasks.
  • Participate in on-the-job training to learn new technical skills and expand responsibilities over time.
Essential Skills
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical labor, including shoveling, trenching, digging, and moving materials.
  • Comfort working on outdoor construction sites and understanding basic site conditions and safety considerations.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic, including consistently showing up on time and ready to work.
  • Willingness to travel independently to job sites, including locations as far south as Greenwich and as far north as Orange.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a small construction crew.
  • Comfort working in all weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold.
  • Valid access to a vehicle to drive to and from job sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Any safety training such as an OSHA 10 certification is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn new technical skills related to site work, grading, and utility installation.
  • Positive attitude toward working outdoors and performing a variety of hands-on tasks.
Why Work Here?
