Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY: Primary purpose of painting cabs after they are prepared for painting. May also be required to prepare items for paint by sanding, caulking, masking, unmasking, loading paint line, unloading paint line.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use various paint equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain clean and neat work area.
  • Report labor and job data accurately.
  • Perform other jobs within the department or plant as required by supervision.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is beneficial.

SKILLS:

A good command of the English language is required, both written and spoken. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Ability to read prints, work instructions, computer, and safety instructions. Ability to apply paint evenly.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to physically perform essential functions of the job. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 74 lbs. and frequently up to/over 100 lbs. Typically requires standing and walking on a regular basis, and climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and handling occasionally. Must be able to paint, sand, caulk and mask. Specific vision requirements include depth perception, color vision and peripheral vision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Operation of forklift, scissor lift and moving paint line is required. Regularly exposed to noise, odors, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, drafts, vibration, electricity, and heights. Hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes with metatarsal protection, face shield or goggles, painter's air hood, respirator and gloves are required.
