Job description

Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team in New York. This full-time role involves overseeing a range of critical laboratory functions and ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to NYS CLEP, CAP, and TJC standards.
  • Provide leadership and administrative guidance to laboratory staff, fostering a proficient and quality-driven environment.
  • Develop and manage staffing schedules and implement cross-training programs to enhance staff competencies.
  • Supervise financial operations, including purchasing and vendor contract evaluations.
  • Engage the laboratory in proficiency programs and maintain a robust quality control system.
  • Update and manage laboratory procedures, ensuring all manuals are current and approved.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and offer technical support to laboratory personnel.
  • Organize continuing education and professional development opportunities for the team.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols, contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Valid NYSED license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related field, or equivalent laboratory experience with supervisory duties.
  • Minimum of five years of laboratory experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role within a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in laboratory software and systems such as Cerner, EPIC, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of ISO standards and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • An active NYS HT license and at least 4 years of experience in Anatomic Pathology.
Areas of Oversight:
  • Histology
  • Cytopathology (currently limited to send-outs, with future expansion plans)
  • Gross Room
  • Mortuary
Working Conditions:

This position follows a day shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, totaling 35 hours per week in a vibrant laboratory setting.
