NeoGenomics is looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering who wants to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is a hybrid in office position with Monday - Friday schedule to work out of either Ramsey, NJ, Durham, NC or Fort Myers, FL locations.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Manager, Laboratory Software Engineering you will lead a team of developers and engineers responsible for the technical design, development, delivery, and support of NeoGenomics' Laboratory IT platforms and applications. You will provide technical and operational leadership across the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions that support business-critical and clinical operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for NeoGenomics' overall application development,integration, and administration of solution environments and maintenance efforts
  • Manage the team (onshore and offshore) that builds and maintains solutions, balancing competing priorities
  • Drive technical excellence across the development team, including proactive code optimization, maintenance, and process improvement
  • Lead people development, fostering team management, high performance, high-quality culture, and process excellence
  • Own delivery outcomes for development workstreams
  • Ensure delivery velocity, quality, security, and reliability
  • Initiate and implement development process improvements
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development and testing practices
  • Coach, hire, and grow development teams
  • Estimate project resource requirements and manage product delivery schedules and associated risks
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to align products with customer requirements and expectations, translating functional requirements into systemand technical designs
  • Partner with IT Operations and external vendors to ensure technical quality, engineering standards, and successful delivery of software solutions
  • Lead incident management for complex production issues, including resolution, root cause analysis, and proactive prevention

Education, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related fields, or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of experience in information technology, including 4+ years in a leadership or managerial role Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)experience required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Strong expertise in backend systems, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture
  • Hands-on experience with Java frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot) and Python frameworks (Flask, Django, FastAPI)
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
  • Proficiency with databases (SQL and NoSQL) such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI-assisted coding platforms and software design best practices in regulated environments
  • Demonstrated experience leading software implementations in scientific or healthcare related environments
  • Proven ability to coach, hire, and develop high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated high bias for action and collaborative mindset
  • Effective communication in written and verbal forms
  • Acquires trust and respect as an effective escalation point for complex issues.Receives and shares knowledge with peers to foster team growth
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
