Quest Diagnostics is seeking an inspiring, process-oriented Director of Lab Operations to oversee technical laboratory activities at our Lewisville, TX facility. This pivotal leadership role is ideal for a collaborative problem-solver who wants the opportunity to strategically transform and modernize how we deliver critical health insights. Managing the overall laboratory budget, you will guide and empower a high-performing team dedicated to technical precision, operational excellence, and rigorous regulatory compliance.
The Director will ensure the overall success of laboratory operations as measured by service metrics, meeting/maintaining budget projections; client satisfaction; professional staff development and overall communications within/between laboratories, as well as with Patient Services, Logistics, Customer Operations, R&D, Sales/Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and IT.

Responsibilities
  • Directs and coordinates laboratory activities to ensure that services are provided on schedule with quality and cost objectives
  • Ensures that all laboratory activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws
  • Develops and trains personnel within the laboratory and review and appraise their performance
  • Establishes laboratory organization plan and delegates responsibilities, authorities and accountability to appropriate subordinates
  • Creates and evaluates new procedures and equipment for potential use in the laboratory and recommends new procedures and equipment where necessary
  • Directs, coordinates and oversees major unit projects to the best economic advantage of the corporation

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of lab experience (esoteric lab experience preferred), including at least 3 years in a managerial role
  • Manufacturing operations management experience in a regulated industry, particularly those under FDA or CLIA oversight, with P&L responsibilities
  • Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Success setting and executing strategy and diving deep into technical details to troubleshoot
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is highly preferred and highly valued
  • Strong executive presence and leadership skills
  • Leadership experience in highly automated operations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in applying LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to details.
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-faceted operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and the ability to influence/sell ideas and concepts to peers and senior management.
