Position Summary:

Griffin Health is seeking a dependable and organized Laboratory Courier Lead to manage and oversee the daily operations of our laboratory courier services. This critical leadership position ensures the accurate, timely, and safe transport of laboratory specimens, reports, and supplies between hospital facilities, outpatient sites, and physician offices. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent logistical coordination, strong communication skills, and a commitment to service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Develops and maintains courier staff schedules to ensure full coverage of all scheduled runs.

Coordinates courier routes and stop schedules to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries.

Responds promptly to requests for stat pick-ups and ensures quick turnaround.

Ensures accurate specimen pick-up from each client and timely return to the laboratory.

Maintains records of all specimen transactions from clients and draw stations.

Client Service & Relationship Management:

Serves as a representative of Griffin Health, consistently promoting hospital and laboratory services with professionalism and courtesy.

Delivers supplies, reports, and other materials to clients and draw stations as requested.

Maintains positive, cooperative working relationships with all clients and ensures exceptional service at every touchpoint.

Vehicle & Fleet Oversight:

Oversees the maintenance and repair of all laboratory vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy and compliant.

Coordinates phone service and operational readiness of all courier vehicles.

Processes and tracks purchase order requests for service and repairs; submits required documentation to Risk Management.

Maintains detailed service and repair logs for each lab vehicle.

Leadership & Communication:

Serves as the primary point of contact for courier-related issues; keeps supervisor informed of updates and submits reports as requested.

Coaches and supports courier staff to uphold departmental standards and safety guidelines.

Ensures all drivers comply with traffic regulations, report incidents, and complete vehicle usage logs accurately.

Professional Conduct & Compliance:

Demonstrates dependable attendance and provides schedule coverage when needed.

Adheres to Griffin Health's standards for patient satisfaction, confidentiality, and professional appearance.

Follows all institutional policies regarding HIPAA, Fire & Safety, Disaster Preparedness, and Standard Precautions.

Promotes a positive image of the hospital through courteous and cooperative interactions with all stakeholders.

Maintains current competencies required for the Lead Courier position, as documented in the department.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional logistics or supervisory training preferred.

Valid driver's license with clean driving record required.

Minimum of 2-3 years of courier or logistics experience, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory setting.

Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage scheduling logistics.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to maintain accurate records and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance practices a plus.
