Job Summary: The Internal Courier/Driver is responsible for performing local courier routes, as well as internal deliveries between Access Medical Labs locations, ensuring that specimens, documents, and supplies are transported accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. This role is critical to supporting the daily operations of the lab, maintaining compliance with handling protocols, and providing exceptional service to both internal teams and client accounts. The Internal Courier/Driver works closely with the Courier Supervisor to manage scheduled routes, add-on requests, and other operational needs.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Complete assigned local courier routes to pick up specimens and materials from client accounts, ensuring timely and accurate collection.
  • Transport specimens, lab supplies, documents, and other materials between departments and across Access Medical Labs locations according to operational needs.
  • Respond promptly to ad-hoc pickup or delivery requests and communicate any changes, delays, or issues with the Courier Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with the Chemistry Department and other lab teams for specific courier requests, including deliveries to Dr. Sara at Palm Beach Pathology as needed.
  • Maintain the organization and readiness of courier bags, transport containers, and other materials to ensure compliance with safety and handling standards.
  • Adhere to all company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations regarding specimen handling and transportation.
  • Report any vehicle or route issues to the Courier Supervisor immediately and assist in maintaining the condition and cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
  • Uphold confidentiality and data security standards when transporting sensitive lab documents or patient information.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple routes and deliveries.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with lab staff, clients, and external partners.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate handling of specimens, documents, and supplies.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials safely, following lab and vehicle safety protocols.
  • Reliability, dependability, and a strong sense of responsibility in completing routes and deliveries.
  • Familiarity with lab and clinical environments is a plus but not required.
