What you will do:
As an HVAC laboratory technician, you will be working in a lab environment and assisting engineers in preparing and testing HVAC systems, such as heat pumps and air conditioners.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Know HVAC components such as coils, air-movers, wiring, electronics, control boards, copper tubes, compressors, etc.
  • Implement setup/instrumentation of residential HVAC units, including evaporator and condenser sections in psychrometric, sound, vibration, and environmental test rooms
  • Modify prototypes following the standards and instructions as directed by engineers
  • Understand the standard ASHRAE, AHRI, and UL test processes, note anomalies and deviations from the process, and apply the appropriate corrective action
  • Read engineering documents like schematics, drawings, technical spec sheets, etc.
  • Record and document test setups, results, and incidents in detail and with high-level accuracy
  • Be able to do troubleshooting/diagnostics and solve the problems excitedly

Job Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of air properties
  • Hands-on experience with copper and aluminum brazing
  • Familiar with R&D environment
  • Comfortable with computers
  • Working in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Familiar with standards and code and ability to follow them thoroughly
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented

What you need:
  • HVAC refrigerant license
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the HVAC industry

Education
  • High school diploma or associate degree

How to stand out:
  • Vocational training/degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
