Location: Sherman, Texas
Clinic Address: 4028 N. US Highway 75, Sherman, TX 75090
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekend and holiday coverage
Compensation: Competitive, plus bonus opportunities

Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM-8:00 PM
Saturday-Sunday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Position Summary
NextCare is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in Sherman, Texas.
This opportunity is ideal for a clinician who values variety, autonomy, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment.

You will be supported by experienced clinical teams, strong peer relationships, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership who provide real-time guidance and mentorship. The work is engaging and varied, with a broad patient population and generally low-acuity presentations that keep clinical skills sharp without the pressure of inpatient follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
  • Manage acute illnesses, minor injuries, and occupational health visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory testing and imaging
  • Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, and splinting
  • Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record
  • Code and bill services appropriately
  • Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
  • Practice in alignment with NextCare's clinical standards and values

Required Qualifications
  • Active, unrestricted Texas Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
  • Nurse Practitioners must hold active ANCC or AANP certification; Family Nurse Practitioner certification is required
  • Physician Assistants must hold active NCCPA certification
  • Active DEA registration or ability to obtain
  • Ability and willingness to treat patients of all ages
  • Active BLS certification
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems
  • Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
  • Active DOT certification or willingness to obtain it; associated fees are covered

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
  • Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
  • Experience with initial X-ray interpretation before radiology over-read
  • Comfort practicing independently in an urgent care environment
  • Occupational medicine and workers' compensation experience
