Job description

Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and street-related duties within the Streets Department, with a primary focus on crack sealing and roadway maintenance. This position will also provide support to other departments as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, willing to work outdoors, and able to perform physically demanding work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform crack sealing and other routine street maintenance activities.
  • Assist with roadway, sidewalk, drainage, and right-of-way maintenance.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment safely.
  • Assist with setup, cleanup, traffic control, and work-zone activities.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize materials and equipment.
  • Perform physical labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, digging, and standing for extended periods.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and applicable regulations.
  • Assist other City departments with maintenance and general labor duties as assigned.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and communicate professionally with coworkers and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding manual labor.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Previous experience in street maintenance, construction, landscaping, public works, or general maintenance is helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements
