Job Summary

The Lead Statistician role in the Wage & Hour Data Analytics group provides support on various projects,

including but not limited to, single plaintiff, class action, collective action, and DOL audit client exposure

analyses, largely based on client timekeeping and payroll data. This individual will work autonomously to

handle complex attorney/client issues, oversee the work of analysts and more statisticians.

Essential Functions

Work as the primary contact of attorneys, clients, and team manager to determine strategies on

projects involving but not limited to class action data analytics, Practice Group initiatives, and

marketing efforts.

Assess client exposure under various litigation scenarios - class action, collective action, etc.

using appropriate coding and analytical methods for different data types and legal statutes as an

individual contributor.

Oversee the work of 2-3 statisticians such that their work is completed on time, accurately, and

with appropriate quality-control processes.

Ensure the quality work product of assigned statisticians.

Act as teacher and role model for technical and behavioral skills required for long term success

with Jackson Lewis analytics team.

Collaborate with attorneys and statisticians on analysis revisions, often on-the-fly during

mediation proceedings.

Provide clear and concise communications regarding the analysis processes and results - both

written and oral - to attorneys and client contacts, with the ability to explain complex topics in

an easy-to-understand manner.

Develop strong and effective relationships with attorneys and clients

Execute assigned tasks in a self-directed, proactive manner, while actively managing own time

and quality of work. Expand scope of data tools employed by analysis team, including internal business capture and

process automation.

Lead multiple projects simultaneously from data intake and methodology development to

analysis completion for their own direct work and team members who they are overseeing.

Collaborate with team manager to support the hiring, training, and development of their 2-3

team members holistically across cases.

Serve as an ambassador for the W&H Team, assisting team members/attorneys/clients outside

of the primary statisticians that they oversee.

Qualifications/Skills Required

Minimum seven years of data experience directly working with Wage & Hour topics and data

(timekeeping and payroll data especially), preferably within a legal or HR context.

Direct experience with California Wage & Hour topics and data (timekeeping and payroll data

especially), a large plus.

Experience leading data analytics projects independently from inception through completion.

Experience with project management and balancing multiple competing priorities.

Experience overseeing others with a focus on quality-control and code reviews.

Expert working knowledge of R or Python as well as expert working knowledge of Excel to write

programs to automate repetitive statistical and data tasks.

Experience building relationships with senior stakeholders and communicating technical topics

to non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to interpret results to provide meaningful recommendations to counsel regarding

potential legal strategies resulting from analysis findings.

Experience with implementing process improvements a plus.

Willingness to conform to standardized group practices.

Educational Requirements

Master's degree in applied statistics, mathematics, econometrics or a similar field or commensurate experience or equivalent level of training.

For the DC region, New York and Seattle area the expected salary range for this position is between $124,600 and$149,625. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
