Job description

Lab technicians will support other production and quality department professionals in research, testing, laboratory maintenance, and testing. They'll conduct thorough checks on products and record data to see if they meet company, industry, and government guidelines and safety standards. In addition, Lab Technicians can recommend improving these guidelines since they help update testing and safety protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receiving, labeling, and safely storing samples to be tested
  • Determining and performing tests needed for the analysis and report
  • Recording tests and analyses and then reporting the results
  • Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
  • Organizing and storing samples according to all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample
  • Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment
  • Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs
  • Staying current on technical and scientific advances in their field

ESSENTIAL SKILLS NEEDED:
  • Understanding of electronic equipment and computerized lab equipment
  • Use of lab meters and microscope and chemical understanding
  • Strictly follow lab instructions and procedures.
  • Good eye-hand coordination, especially in the case of Lab Tech, who has to use needles and microscopes when collecting and preparing samples for analysis
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of electronic and computerized equipment in laboratories
