Below, you'll find other important information about this position.Perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests within scope of licensure in all laboratory disciplines by standard operating policies and procedures. Understand method principles, perform quality control, perform preventative maintenance, review, and analyze results as to accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Associate of Science (AAS) degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or Science OR Associate's degree is a chemical or biological science.

2.Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided:

PA: No state license issued

WV: Medical Laboratory Technician License or Trainee License

MD: No state license issued

OH: No state license issued

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.

1. Process and analyze samples, in a timely and orderly fashion, and meet usual and customary levels of productivity, while following procedures for accurate identification.

2. Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments accordingly to policies and procedures.

3. Take appropriate action for quality control in all technical areas and follow infection control procedures for all job-related functions.

4. Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients as needed.

5. Complete forms and reports findings to nurses and/or physicians.

6. Interact with other healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results within the framework of medical technology.

7. Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within a designated area in the clinical laboratory.

8. Recognize testing inconsistency and takes appropriate corrective action.

9. Maintain all patent and specimen records accurately, neatly, and legibly.

10. Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and public.

11. Maintain compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety, security, and infection control.

12. Communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff, and the public in general, in a manner that demonstrates professionalism and concern for their individual needs.
