Job Summary
The Lab Coordinator is a hands-on role responsible for managing daily operations of the Irvine, KY testing lab. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with accountability for recording and reporting test results, investigating issues, and determining raw material usability. The lab coordinator supports quality by analyzing failures, maintaining testing systems, and collaborating with internal teams and external labs. Additionally, training Lab Technicians, updating testing protocols, managing vendor partnerships, and assisting with non-conformance resolution.

Associate Responsibilities
  • Record Non-Conformance claims for failing fabrics
  • Review FR test data and release FR garment PO's accordingly with accuracy
  • Create formal testing documentation for all SCOC testing
  • Handle shipping and receiving of packages to the lab as well as audit testing invoices
  • Create indirect POs for Quality team
  • Calibrate all testing equipment
  • Ability to learn and perform various routine lab testing, as well as operate all lab equipment as needed to support Lab Tech
  • Problem solve and coordinate all maintenance work needed in the lab
  • Record digitally and file test results in the proper locations
  • Report all fabric, finished goods, and raw material physical failures / issues to the Manager of Global Testing, Quality Integrity Analysts, and Raw Material Analysts.
  • Assist in training other technicians on the processes and procedures related to Carhartt and lab testing/evaluation
  • Assist in reviewing industry standard test methods (ASTM, AATCC, etc.) and writing internal testing protocols for current test methods and new methods
  • Analyze internal and external lab failures to determine material usability
  • Work on special projects as assigned

Required Education
  • High school diploma is required, associate's degree preferred

Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and physical performance of fabric is required
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing process related to raw materials is required
  • Strong MS-Office skills required including Word, PowerPoint and a high proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with Smartsheet, MS Power-BI, SAP or similar data tools preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and stay detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess a high attention to detail and the ability to follow specific instructions or procedures
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Good organizational skills with an ability to prioritize workload with attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and the ability to present information in a comprehensive format
  • Provide timely, regular reporting and performance monitoring to business stakeholders
  • Good analytical skills
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating clear and comprehensive reports based on subjects relating to work assignments
  • Demonstrated understanding of business processes and procedures
