Radiologic Technologist, Cath Lab Technologist

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist, Cath Lab Technologist

Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Radiologic Technologist, Cath Lab Technologist

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Days

Hours per Shift: 40

Experience: Minimum 3 years

License: Current ARRT license required

Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required

Must-Have:

  • 2 years of Cath Lab experience
  • Ability to take call

Description:

Must be trained in all aspects of scrubbing and running the X-ray equipment associated with all procedures for both the Cardiac Cath Lab and Special Procedures lab. Supports and promotes the mission and values of the organization. Responsible for scrubbing in for the Cardiac Cath Lab and Special Procedures. Evaluates images to assure they possess the density, contrast, detail, and structures to allow the physician to make a diagnosis. Performs special procedures radiography using appropriate equipment according to department procedures. Maintains procedural areas neatly and orderly, prepared throughout the day for examinations. Cleans tables and equipment, ensuring readiness for the next patient. Completes assigned examinations within the prescribed amount of time according to procedures. Reports for duty in a timely manner, in scrubs, ready for patient care. Reviews requisitions for pertinent information and special requests. Positions and preps patients, setting up equipment for all procedures. Scrubs and assists the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Reports all unusual reactions or conditions to the nurse. Uses judgment in providing information based on the situation and is sensitive to individual and organizational concerns. Demonstrates a willingness to rotate among various shifts or departments to adjust staffing to meet patient care needs. Performs other duties consistent with this role. Explains to and includes the patient in his/her care. Competencies include Balloon Pump and Impella. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for meeting the requirements.
