The Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control Laboratory, including, but not limited to, monitoring the work of QC Lab Technicians, ensuring products are analyzed in accordance with established procedures, validating Certificates of Analysis for conforming products, and reclassifying nonconforming products. The position requires coordination and communication with multiple departments, including but not limited to Production Planning, Production, Quality Assurance, and Process Support, to ensure analytical integrity, facilitate timely analysis, and maintain customer satisfaction.
LOCATION: Plaquemine, LA
Responsibilities
  • Monitor QC Laboratory activities on a day-to-day basis and ensure operations are carried out safely and efficiently
  • Review analyses performed by QC Technicians to ensure adherence to established procedures, accuracy of results, and proper reporting of conformity status in the company ERP system
  • Review and validate Certificates of Analysis for customer orders of finished products
  • Review and validate recertification results and issue Certificates of Conformance upon request
  • Work with other departments to ensure analyses are reported accurately and in a timely manner
  • Create and maintain QC Technician work schedules, assignments, training, and evaluations
  • Coordinate and maintain records for work schedules, assignments, training, and various evaluations
  • Perform laboratory testing on a fill-in basis, as needed
  • Perform evaluations of new test methodologies and revise testing procedures as needed
  • Conduct training for new hires and existing staff
  • Oversee SOPs to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Monitor QA/QC of all reportable data
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of safety protocols
  • Request for laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Maintain laboratory supply and equipment inventory, along with accurate recordkeeping and filing systems
  • Prepare permits, work orders, procedures, and incident reports as needed
  • Analyze nonconforming material, identify chemical properties and hazards
  • Conduct audits, including but not limited to procedures, processes, equipment, and safety
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required; Chemistry preferred

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum: 2+ years of experience in a Lead Tech role
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have highly developed attention to detail
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Must effectively demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities, along with a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement
