Job description

The Phlebotomy Tech performs specimen collection, specimen processing, interprets physician written orders for computer entry, performs referred patient registration, generates Advance Beneficiary Notices and general clerical duties. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • ASPT certification is preferred.
  • Two years of phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Processes specimens accurately (registers, orders tests, provides documentation, generates ABN forms) adhering to laboratory policies and procedures. Performs referred patient registrations when needed.
  • Collects specimens (blood, urine, etc.) from all patients using proper techniques.
  • Instructs patient in collection of urine and other clinical specimens with emphasis on proper technique and timing.
  • Delivers patient specimens to appropriate departments or storage area.
  • Monitors specimen requests to ensure timely compliance.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Every other Saturday

Pay Range:

Hourly/Non-Exempt

$16.00 – $20.00
