Job description

Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic has won numerous NMMA Innovation Awards over the years, and we are always striving for new ways to make boating easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
Dometic Marine's facility in Sparta, TN produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-molded products for industrial applications. The site also manufactures select marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems.
We are on a journey of continuous growth - now looking for our next star - a passionate Quality Lab Technician. This position reports to the Quality Manager and will work in Sparta, TN.
About the position
As Quality Lab Technician of the Sparta team, you will be involved in the Prototype process and Testing requirements related to New Launch Product and ECNs to include FG Product, WIP, and Materials. The Sparta core Product entails Marine Industry Fuel Systems, Steering, and Controls. The Quality Lab Technician will support the Product approval / validation process via a Sparta "Blue Pack" process along with Customer specific PPAP requirements. The Quality Lab Technician will demonstrate the ability to support other functional areas, work in a Team environment, and independently, as necessary. This position requires attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment.
Your Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the Prototype validation process to ensure Product measurement, configuration, and testing conforms to Dometic-Sparta and Customer requirements.
  • Review and Approve Production assembly and kitting of Prototype Product.
  • Fulfill Dometic-Sparta Blue Pack and Customer specific PPAP requirements.
  • In addition to scheduled Lab Testing, will perform random Quality Testing of required Product.
  • Document all Quality Lab Testing results and communicate any failures to appropriate Team Members.
  • Maintain cleanliness of Quality Lab.
  • May be required to assist with other duties, as needed.

Skills & Requirements
A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and quality as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
  • Inspect and Test Product to Part Number, Blueprint, or Standards, all FG Product, WIP, and Materials.
  • Understanding of BOM, SOP, and Work Instructions.
  • Minimum (2) years of Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Metrology.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to use measurement and test equipment (e.g., Variable / Attribute Gages, CMM, Optical Comparator, Burst / VPT, Tank Pressure testing, Gel, Impact, etc.).
  • Familiar with Quality / Operations systems (e.g., 1Factory, MAPICS, INFOR, Smart System, etc.).
  • Ability to perform Product / Process Audits.
  • ASQ CQI or Six Sigma Greenbelt.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
