What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Lab Prep Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lab Prep Technician, you need a solid understanding of laboratory procedures, chemical handling, and equipment maintenance, typically supported by a degree or coursework in biology, chemistry, or a related field. Will AI replace lab technician?

AI technology can automate certain tasks performed by lab prep technicians, such as data analysis and sample management, but it is unlikely to fully replace the role. Lab technicians rely on hands-on skills, critical thinking, and adherence to safety protocols that AI cannot replicate entirely. Instead, AI is expected to augment their work, allowing technicians to focus on more complex and interpretive tasks.
