Job description

Fragrance Lab Technician
Location: Red Bank, NJ
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Assignment Length: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $22-$25 per hour
A growing organization within the fragrance industry is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sample Lab Compounder to support laboratory operations and fragrance development activities. This position plays an important role in accurately compounding fragrance formulations, preparing customer samples and applications, and supporting internal teams with high-quality, timely results.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with fragrance, flavor, or laboratory compounding experience who enjoy working with formulas, raw materials, and quality-driven processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Compound fragrance formulations by accurately weighing, measuring, and blending raw materials according to approved formulas.
  • Read and interpret batch tickets, formulas, and laboratory instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Prepare fragrance applications, including candles, lotions, and other customer-specific bases.
  • Maintain retains and documentation for all samples produced.
  • Complete required transactions within laboratory and inventory management systems.
  • Monitor product quality and identify issues such as color variation, fallout, or formula inconsistencies.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of laboratory raw materials.
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel and cross-functional teams to support customer projects and deadlines.
  • Assist with additional laboratory functions and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fragrance, flavor, or similar laboratory environment.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately weigh, measure, and compound ingredients.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and laboratory software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience working with formulation-based or batch-processing environments.
  • Familiarity with laboratory inventory management systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely work around fragrance chemicals and raw materials while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
