Lab Technician - Metallurgical Testing (Aerospace)
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to perform metallurgical testing of aerospace components. This role supports quality and engineering teams by conducting material testing, sample preparation, and analysis to verify components meet aerospace industry specifications and standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare metallurgical samples through sectioning, mounting, grinding, and polishing
  • Perform mechanical and metallurgical tests, including hardness testing, tensile testing, and microstructural analysis
  • Conduct macro and micro examinations using optical and/or electron microscopy
  • Document test results accurately and prepare detailed reports for engineering and quality teams
  • Identify and report material defects, inconsistencies, or non-conformances
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment; follow proper maintenance schedules
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ASTM) and customer specifications
  • Follow all lab safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Communicate testing results and findings clearly with engineers and quality personnel

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field preferred
  • Prior experience in a metallurgical or materials testing lab, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing
