Summary:

The Site Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting the production teams daily in accuracy and adherence to Mars Quality and Food Safety systems. The individual ensures all quality checks are performed through the receiving and production process. They are responsible for ensuring ingredients and product meets all Quality Specifications while complyingwith Site Lab Standard, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and Hygiene requirements. This role is responsible for supervising all operational activities at site laboratory about collecting, labeling, analyzing, and recording results related to raw materials, Intermediate products, finished product, packaging materials, and other samples. In addition, they are responsible to have working knowledge of the microbiological sampling programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead site lab technicians conducting physical and chemical tests including but not limited to pipettes, pH meter, water activity meter NIR, Lateral Flow Device, and ELISA methods.
  • Interpret analytical method procedures and safety instructions using standard chemistry terms and measures.
  • Deploy, Implement, any new methods (Mars approved one) required by Regional Q&FS Testing Manager
  • Maintain all records of analytical testing and quality control lab documentation. Responsible for tracking, trend analysis, and other Quality Control related responsibilities.
  • Inform Q&FS Manager and Line Manager of quality deviations for controls and product, according to Mars Internal procedures
  • Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including calibration of equipment. Ability to conduct limited Instrument troubleshooting and problem diagnosis, at first level.
  • Supervise and may operate sampling of raw materials from bulk trucks, big bags, and totes.
  • Coordinate all activities relating to MGS Regional Labs or external labs in term preparation of samples and delivery to the labs.
  • Interpret data from routine analysis for RM in order to validate that materials meet specifications.
  • Work to ensure lab compliance to quality management system and Site Lab Standard through training, documentations, quality records, and audits.
  • Manage all CAPA related to site lab activities
  • Train and instruct lab technicians.
  • Ensure Lab participation in ring trials and proficiency testing programs.
  • Being part of Regional site lab community under governance of Regional Q&FS testing and conformance.
  • Report Quarterly metrics to MGS
  • Liaise with MGS Site Lab Support scientist as It comes to compliance, Root cause analysis...
  • Able to perform and train on routine calculations pertaining to analytical chemistry (e.g., dilution, concentration, test results).
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 (preferably 4 year) degree in a Science Field.
  • Commensurate experience of 3 to 5 years in QC lab or GMP manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge and understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Quality Management Systems.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a quality laboratory function.
  • Possess experience and knowledge of basic laboratory operations such as weighing, titrating, and preparing volumetric solutions.
  • Attention to detail and good organization skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
