The Iowa Clinic has an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team in our new musculoskeletal-focused ambulatory surgery center. Conveniently located near I-80 in Waukee, this state-of-the-art, 21,000 sq. ft. ASC will offer same-day joint replacement, orthopedic, sports medicine, foot and ankle, pain management surgery and a cardiac catheterization lab in an out-patient setting. A Day in the Life of Cath Lab RN...
This role will be responsible for providing professional nursing support in the ambulatory surgery center by assisting the cardiologist in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures on patients and providing quality nursing care, assessing, and managing patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab, and support interventional radiology as needed.
Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for intra-operative patient safety by acting as the nursing advocate for the patient by; appropriate positioning, confirming the procedure and site, actively participating in the time out, informs physician and team of any issues or concerns.
  • Closely monitoring the patient for improvement or complications, administering medications including conscious sedation and assisting the physician.
  • Work with diagnostic and interventional catheterization which includes circulating, monitoring, and recording of procedures and emergency management of cardiac patients.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
  • Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life support and Advanced life support
  • Two years nursing experience in an acute care hospital
  • Cardiology catheterization lab experience
  • Ambulatory surgery experience will be preferred.
