Summary

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Supplemental Instructor - Radiography Technology who will be all-in on our mission and who supports the Radiography Program by assisting students in clinical and laboratory settings, ensuring practicum requirements are met, and helping maintain a positive and effective learning environment. This role works in close collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator, faculty, and clinical instructors to provide instructional support, guidance, and communication between Amarillo College and its affiliated clinical sites.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's Degree in Radiography.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Radiography or a related field.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
Required: Current Texas State Certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist. Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two (2) years of recent clinical experience as a radiologic technologist.
Preferred: Three (3) years of clinical experience as a radiologic technologist.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the Clinical Coordinator in ensuring students meet all practicum course requirements.
  • Make regular visits to assigned clinical sites to support students and maintain communication with clinical instructors.
  • Assist in addressing issues or concerns that arise in the clinical setting in collaboration with faculty and clinical instructors.
  • Serve as a lab assistant in positioning labs and open labs, providing hands-on support and guidance to students.
  • Provide clerical or administrative support to the Program Director or Clinical Coordinator as needed.
  • Attend departmental meetings, advisory committee meetings, and other program-related activities.
  • Maintain current professional credentials and comply with state and national certification requirements.
  • Perform other work-related duties, as required.

  • Knowledge of radiography principles, clinical procedures, and ARRT standards.
  • Knowledge of Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist licensing requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with students, faculty, and clinical staff.
  • Ability to provide instructional support in labs and promote a supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to follow directions and work under supervision of program faculty and coordinators.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and program information.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office and educational software.
  • Skill in organization, time management, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve minor issues in the clinical or lab setting in a professional manner.
  • Ability to represent Amarillo College in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to clinical sites as needed.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and clinical sites, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary).
Work Environment: This position operates in a combination of settings, including: Radiography labs, Clinical sites such as hospitals and imaging facilities and an office/clerical environment when providing administrative support to program faculty. The position involves frequent interaction with students, faculty, and clinical staff, and requires professionalism in all settings. Flexibility is essential, as the work environment may include busy labs, clinical floors, or high-traffic office areas.
