Facilities Manager

Summary

The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of CellCarta’s Montreal facilities. This role ensures a safe, efficient, and well-maintained workplace that supports both office and laboratory operations.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and service-oriented facilities professional with strong vendor management, project coordination, and operational skills. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys working across teams, solving problems, and helping create a positive and productive environment for employees and visitors alike.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Operations & Maintenance
    • Oversee day-to-day operation, maintenance, and performance of all building systems, including:
      • HVAC systems (including pressure differentials for lab environments)
      • Electrical distribution systems and backup power (UPS, generators)
      • Plumbing and clean utilities (RO/DI water, gases)
    • Ensure optimal environmental conditions for laboratories (temperature, humidity, air quality, containment)
    • Oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and disruptions
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues impacting lab operations in a timely manner
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety
    • Support workplace health and safety initiatives and help ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
    • Participate in emergency preparedness and business continuity activities as needed
    • Partner with internal teams to maintain a welcoming and productive work environment
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
    • Support sustainability initiatives and energy optimization efforts
  • Vendor & Contractor Management 
    • Manage third-party service providers, including maintenance contractors, cleaning services, and specialized technical vendors
    • Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with site standards and safety requirements
  • Budget & Planning 
    • Assist in developing and managing facilities operating and capital budgets
    • Support long-term capacity planning and infrastructure investment decisions

Main Requirements 

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities, office operations, property management, or a related field
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, and building services
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in both office and operational/laboratory environments
  • Technical or trade background is considered an asset, but not required
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written) is considered an asset
