Job description


Position Summary
Responsible for all aspects of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL) service operations. Leads in clinical practice and supports efficient evidence-based patient care delivery. Integrates the Connecticut Children's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan into all aspects of Invasive Cardiology management, care environment management, regulatory/accreditation readiness, and standards compliance. Team member will work in close cooperation with Medical Director of Cath lab, Chief of Cardiology, Chief of Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology Practice Leadership to foster the success of the program with respect to quality, efficiency, costs, community awareness, and integration of the program throughout Connecticut Children's. Support collaborations with neighboring institutions (Hartford Hospital) to help grow and advance interventional congenital cardiology. The invasive cardiologist will report to the Interventional Cath Lab Medical Director. In the academic role, the catheterization laboratory director will report to the Chairman of Pediatrics.
Responsibilities
Role Responsibilities
Clinical duties may include, but are not limited to, interventional cardiology procedures, central line placement, general pediatric cardiology procedures and management, collaboration with APPs, cardiology inpatient and outpatient encounters, electronic chart reviews, and student and trainee education.
Collaborations with other adult partner institutions for congenital interventional cardiology (example: with Hartford Hospital)
Participate in quality assurance, risk management, and patient satisfaction programs pertaining to Connecticut Children's
Assist Cath Lab Director and Division Chief with indirect oversight of Cath Laboratory and Cardiology Procedures Staff, overall management of the Cath Lab (protocols/equipment, policies, etc).
Ongoing participation in interventional cardiology QI initiatives, IMPACT registry
Collaborations with CT surgery, PICU for post-operative cardiac management
Conducts training or assists in the training of Fellows, Interns, and Resident Physicians
Maintain timely and complete chart notes, reports, and communication with primary care/referring physicians and other relevant subspecialty physicians. Also, maintain open and timely communication with patients, families, and guardians.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Required:
MD or DO Degree, residency, and fellowship
License / Certification / Registration Required:
Current state license to practice medicine, DEA, and CSR
BE/BC in Pediatric Cardiology
Education and/or Experience Preferred:
Interventional Experience with Adult Congenital Heart Disease
License / Certification / Registration Preferred:
Board certification/eligibility in Adult Congenital Heart Disease
