Job description

This position is responsible for supporting the preparation, review and completion of special projects and customer specific qualification plans. May assist in the primary evaluation and disposition of rejection notices identified by lab personnel that included rejection notices, etc. Works directly with customer drawings, specifications and required flow downs to assist in maintaining lab procedures and customer specific requirement procedures.
 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works in direct support of the QA Lab function, maintaining communication with FQC, Planning, Operations, Engineering, and the Front-end.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills required to Interface with personnel at various technical and managerial levels, including interfacing with customer source inspectors, etc.
  • Preparation/evaluation of in-process and final micro sections per industry and customer specification requirements.
  • Maintains the ability to evaluate sectional defects for requirements to spec (maintaining sign off authority as approved through quality engineering)
  • Assists in the training of lab technicians in all facets of lab responsibilities including, but not limited to Group A evaluation, in-process sectioning, Group B submittals, retention and storage requirements, coupon storage-purge & batch card storage/purge.
  • Helps to maintain lab procedures including writing new customer specific requirements. Maintains computer folders pertaining to lab.
  • Orders/ maintains supplies for lab; May review and recommend new equipment for Lab.
  • Send jobs to outside lab for approval.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.
  • This position may require overtime for coverage on alternate shifts and weekends.           
  • May be required to cross train in other departments.                  
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

                       

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years of Quality related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PCB's, Flex/Rigid preferred.
  • Hand and eye dexterity to perform cross section preparations, (e.g., saw cutting and grinding).
  • Ability to use a Microscope required.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work alone or with a team.
  • Safe work habits/operate under high safety standards while working with or near chemicals.
  • Ability to work standing for extended periods of time and able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely. 
  • Proficient Computer experience - Microsoft Office-Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Past participation on QIT's or leading teams a plus.
  • IPC-600 Certified preferred.
