The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.
Performs applied techniques for various chemical, microscopic, immunologic and/or microbiological tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Works with a focus in a specialty areas of the Laboratory, such as Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Serology and/or Microbiology. Receives and/or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis. Records laboratory test results. Performs training activities and special projects. In the absence of a Medical Technologist, may be asked to perform additional duties in order to ensure patient care needs are met through continuous work flow of the lab.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • An associate's degree in medical technology.
  • Certification as an MLT from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or ASCP Categorical Certification specific for the laboratory section employed in (H, C, M, BB) is required.
  • Must provide education transcript prior to start of employment.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year clinical laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrates efficient operation and knowledge of basic instrument theory of operation and function of components.

Preferred Qualifications: (Medical Technologist)
  • A Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology
  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification as a Medical Technologist or ASCP Categorical Certification specific for laboratory section employed in (H, C, M, BB) or eligible required.
  • Must provide education transcript prior to start of employment.
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Competencies:
  • Must be knowledgeable in laboratory automation and information systems.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple work sites; and travel is required in order to perform essential duties.
