Job description

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for receiving and analyzing laboratory specimens and reporting results in a timely manner in accordance with Laboratory Policies and Procedures.  Performs duties which may require both technical and professional judgment.  Participates in Department’s Quality Control, Quality Assurance, maintenance and safety programs.  Maintains parts, reagents and supplies in areas assigned.  May be required to evaluate new methods, participate in teaching, continuing education, and other organizational activities.  Performs any and all related duties under the supervision of a Medical Technologist. This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.      Training should have included at least 4 months in a structured training program with clinical internship in a hospital setting.

2.      Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

1.      High School diploma or GED required.

2.      Associate’s degree in laboratory related science or MLT School.

3.      Medical Lab Technician – registered or eligible for registry MLT(ASCP) or other national accreditation agency.
