Lab Associate Group Lead - Lewisville, TX (Evening Shift) Sunday to Thursday 2:00PM - 10:30PM
Department: Special Chemistry - LCMSMS - Clinical Laboratory
Pay range: $25.92+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

The Lab Assoc Group Lead is responsible for the activities and personnel of the Sample Preparation area within the Quest Diagnostics complex during the weekend hours and functions as Assistant Supervisor during the weekdays. Incumbent ensures that all specimens and samples received are processed in accordance with policies and/or procedures established by the clinical and technical departments and are provided to the various departments in a ready to test" condition where applicable. Incumbent is expected to meet all established completion times and/or processing times in a zero defects" manner.
Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the selection and training of weekend personnel is handled in a manner consistent with the error free nature of the work to be performed, good medical laboratory practice, and in accordance with all corporate and department policies and procedures.
  • Implements and enforces standards of performance and performance monitoring/reporting systems as necessary to ensure high levels of productivity and smooth operation of the department and provide regular production reporting information as needed. This area includes implementations necessary to comply with inspection, licensing and certification procedures.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures related to the preparation of sample or specimen material received for delivery to the appropriate laboratory within Quest Diagnostics are followed. This includes implementation of training programs, preparation procedures, equipment operations guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensures that all corporate and departmental procedures are followed and supported.
  • Implements problem identification, isolation and solution mechanisms as needed to ensure error free work and prompt handling of unusual situations.
  • Conducts such project oriented activities and tasks as management may assign from time to time.
  • Establishes an open management environment within the department ensuring that the individual employee is treated with respect, dignity, and consideration by all members of the Quest Diagnostics team.
  • Performs other ancillary duties as assigned by a competent authority.
  • Adheres to all established laboratory safety requirements.
  • Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, including Latex Gloves, (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management.

Qualifications
Required Work Experience:
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in related environment required. Formal education may be substituted in part for experience.
Knowledge:
Broad knowledge of laboratory operations and procedures required.
Skills:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with patient/client information with discretion.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in situations of stress.
  • Ability to work well with other supervisors, peers, subordinates and clients.

Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
