Title:  Cardiac Cath Lab Associate

Department/Location: Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

Reports to:   Nurse Manager

Position Summary

The CCL Associate serves as a clerical role to support the Cardiac Team under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse/Nurse Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:

   
  1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
  2. Manages telephone communications efficiently and delivers messages in a timely fashion
  3. Greets and directs patients and visitors appropriately using excellent customer service skills
  4. Responds to telephone inquiries and acts as a liaison for patient/team
  5. Print and fax procedure reports to referring physician’s office
  6. Obtain results and records needed for scheduled patients from referring offices
  7. Prepares patients charts for next day’s scheduled procedures
  8. Works collaboratively and maintains effective communication with patients and health care team to review all required pre-procedure requirements, following up as necessary
  9. Maintains patients records in systematic approach and has them available in a timely fashion for the healthcare team.
  10. Accurately collates inpatient/outpatient charts
  11. Access patient’s EMR to obtain information
  12. Demonstrates proficiency in computer software including EPIC and Microsoft Office Suite
  13. Utilizes computer and other electronic equipment appropriately to input or access data
  14. Arrange completed charts and send to medical records
  15. Assists in preparing reports and statistics as needed
  16. Requests and maintains adequate inventory of supplies and forms
  17. Assist in putting patient charges for billing department
  18. Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives
  19. Able to organize and care for office supplies
  20. Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings
  21. Collaborates and communicates effectively with the health care team.
  22. Completes annual mandatory requirements including Occupational Health Requirements
  23. Performs all other related duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

    • High School Diploma required
    • Successful completion of departmental orientation
    • College or Business (Secretarial) School preferred
    • Minimum 3-5 years healthcare experience preferred
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheet making graphs for unit statistics

 Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment                                                                                                                                                                           
    • May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS database can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
    • Must be physically able to frequently push/ pull/ lift heavy objects more than 50 lbs with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device;
    • Perform difficult manipulative, arm – hand steadiness and hand –eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Must be physically able to meet all regulatory requirements 100% of the time.
    • Must be physically able to sit for extended periods of time frequently.
    • Must be able to perform word processing/computer work and use of transcription equipment for extend periods of time frequently.
    • Use of hand coordination and finger dexterity frequently.
    • Must have the ability to concentrate on fine detail for extended periods of time and with distractions
