Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision the Research Lab Associate III:
  • Develops, designs, and conducts research projects according to plan under the general direction of the Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Performs scientific investigative research and participates in carrying out research objectives.
  • Keeps abreast of new techniques and reviews literature in the field pertinent to the area of research.
  • Conducts moderately complex and complex experiments and collects and analyzes data using various degrees of statistical methodology.
  • Trains and supervises other lab members and provide guidance and instruction in laboratory techniques and equipment operations.
  • Ensures compliance with animal care and occupational safety regulations.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, in a scientific discipline appropriate to the research lab. Master's degree in an appropriate field of science preferred.
  • Three (3) years of laboratory research experience, preferably as a Research Assistant/Associate in the scientific field pertinent to the area of research conducted.
  • A Master's degree can substitute for the years of research experience, if the degree is appropriate to the area of research conducted.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Requires a working knowledge of statistics, computer applications and research methodologies.
  • Familiarity with computer programming may be helpful.
  • Highly motivated and organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new methodology.
  • Manual dexterity to operate complex equipment.
