Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement

Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution 

OR
Official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and holds/held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.

Minimum Experience Requirement

Relevant experience preferred. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Analytical skills necessary in order to determine proper specimen container and storage. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians and various other personnel.

Minimum License Requirement

MLT: ASCP registered or eligible

Physical Requirement/Working Conditions

Walking or standing up to eighty percent of the work time. Subject to frequent changes in priority of duties throughout the day. Analytical skills necessary in order to determine appropriateness of laboratory order. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Occasional exposure to hazardous materials. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
