Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Technical Academy Lab Technician Intern to support our training team. This internship provides hands-on exposure to HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and basic thermodynamics in a classroom/lab environment. Under the guidance of instructors and senior staff, the intern helps set up and maintain classrooms, labs, and equipment before, during, and after training sessions, while building technical and workplace skills through supervised projects and daily support activities.

EssentialJob Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Assistsinstructors with day-to-day lab support tasks, including basic research, organization, and preparation of classroom/lab materials.

  • Supports hands-on training sessions and practical demonstrations by staging equipment and tools andassistingwith learner set-up as directed.

  • Prepares, inventories, and helpsmaintaintraining materials, equipment, and tools (e.g., labeling, cleaning, and basic checks).

  • Learnstolocateparts, diagrams, and drawings within the AAON database; retrieves documentation with guidance as needed.

  • Helpsmaintainlab/classroom organization and cleanliness (5S) to support safe and effective training operations.

  • Mayassistwith basic facility or training-equipment maintenance tasks under supervision (no independent work on energized/pressurized systems unless qualified and authorized).

  • Assistswith operating and caring for training equipment and instruments by performing basic start-up/shut-down steps, checks, andstorage perprocedures.

  • Identifiesequipment or set-up issues and promptly escalates to instructors/senior staff; helps implement corrective actions as directed.

  • Follows training, quality, and safety procedures and helps ensure the lab and equipment are usedin accordance withposted guidelines.

  • Works collaboratively with instructors, engineers, technicians, and other team members; communicates status and asks questions to support learning andtimelycompletion of assigned tasks.

  • Complies withall safety requirements andparticipatesin required safety training.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Currently pursuing or recentlycompletedan Associate's orBachelor'sdegree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Controls Technology, or a related field (or equivalent technical coursework/experience). Prior lab, shop, or internship experience is a plus but notrequired. Ability to learn and follow safety procedures isrequired; EPA 608 and/or A2L certification is preferred but notrequired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Interest in technical training, lab operations, or hands-on learning in a manufacturing/technical environment.

  • Foundational knowledge (or coursework) in HVAC systems, mechanical systems, basic electrical concepts, and/or controls.

  • Clear communication skills; comfortable asking questions and receiving coaching/feedback.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions,maintainattention to detail, and document work when asked.

  • Willingness to learn, take initiative on assigned tasks, and follow safety and quality requirements.

  • Positive, respectful teamwork skills.

  • Professional communication skills and comfort interacting with small and large groups as needed.

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn through hands-on experience.

Work Environment:

  • Interns must be able to support training activities in a classroom or lab setting and follow all classroom etiquette and AAON policies.

  • Standing forlong periodsof time.

  • Travel to other facilities and off-site locations as needed.
