Job description

Wage Range: $26.91 - $41.14 per hour plus 15% per diem rate
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary:

Responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by providing fast and accurate information upon request. Exhibits problem-solving skills to promote efficient customer service and client satisfaction. Interacts daily with other members of the healthcare team to include laboratory and hospital personnel and must maintain a broad knowledge base.
Primary Duties:
  1. Answer and navigate calls with accuracy, efficiency, and courtesy using the best customer service tactics and practices.
  2. Use the laboratory information system or other reference laboratory's web-based applications to independently solve complex issues in a sensitive, caring and timely manner.
  3. Keeps accurate records of all calls and both written and verbal requests; provides call statistics to department management.
  4. Acts as a resource to co-workers, clients and patients for general lab questions and directs any complex technical questions to the appropriate personnel.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory role
  • Certification from an approved laboratory-training program with successful completion of a required internship preferred, or relevant work experience
  • Medical Terminology
DESIRED for the position:
  • Previous training and competence in dealing with unique needs in the range of customer service situations with clinicians and their office staff.
  • Working knowledge of the various government regulations specifically Medicare and the Washington state medical Test Site regulations. Working knowledge of the College of American Pathologists (ASCP) and the Joint Commission (TJC) inspection criteria.
