Job description

CHC Addiction Services is a non-profit social service agency in the Akron area whose mission is to treat, inspire, support and empower individuals and families impacted by the disease of addiction.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lab Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory services. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining quality standards, supervising laboratory staff, and supporting exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical laboratory knowledge and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, including specimen collection, testing, analysis, troubleshooting, staffing, and supply inventory.
  • Supervise laboratory personnel, including Specimen Collectors, the Team Lead, and Medical Laboratory Technicians.
  • Ensure laboratory services are performed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor staffing needs and provide coverage for staff absences as needed.
  • Maintain adequate laboratory supplies and inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal providers, departments, and external referral sources regarding test requests, results, and laboratory services.
  • Assist with problem-solving, workflow improvements, and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to departmental planning and organizational goals.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment while supporting staff development and performance.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field, as applicable.
  • Current MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) or MLS/MT (Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist) certification.
  • Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
