A Brief Overview
 

Assists the anatomic pathology lab by performing pre-analytic, post-analytic, and support functions.

What You Will Do
 

  • Accessions specimens for cytology and/or surgical pathology.
  • Performs specimen processing for further workup in the anatomic pathology laboratory.
  • Triages specimens within the department.
  • Maintains equipment, re-stocks supplies and reagents.
  • Recognition and preliminary resolution of problem cases.
  • Performs miscellaneous maintenance tasks within the department.

Additional Responsibilities
 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
  • Associate's Degree (Preferred)

  • Previous Medical Laboratory experience or strong science background (Preferred)
