Job description

The Certified Group provides analytical testing and regulatory guidance services in the food & beverage, dietary supplements & NHP, cosmetics, OTC, personal care, tobacco, cannabis, nicotine, and hemp industries.


We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our Food Forensics team. In this temporary role, you’ll play a vital part in preparing samples for testing, maintaining laboratory equipment and workspaces, and supporting analysts to ensure high-quality, timely results for our clients.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and label incoming samples for testing using lab equipment such as food processors, grinders, blenders, and balances.

  • Clean and maintain glassware, instruments, equipment, and Chemistry department work areas.

  • Monitor and maintain supplies, including a steady supply of distilled water.

  • Assist in packaging and shipping samples, equipment, or materials for outside testing or client return.

  • Support analysts in performing chemical tests and accurately document cleaning, calibrations, and maintenance.

  • Record daily refrigerator/freezer temperatures and verify equipment calibrations.

  • Safely handle and properly label hazardous waste in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with other departments to ensure smooth lab operations.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Possible opportunity for the position to be extended a a longer period of time.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Basic math skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication (reading, writing, and verbal).

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift 10–50 lbs.

  • Manual dexterity and ability to distinguish colors.

  • Dependability, accuracy, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
