Job description

Laboratory Analyst II
Adamsville, AL

 Valicor is a growing, full-service environmental company with locations throughout the Midwest and the South. As an ISO 14001 certified organization, Valicor takes great pride in its environmental compliance process.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead daily laboratory activities independently to ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Develop and maintain quality control practices.
  • Work alongside management on method development and troubleshooting.
  • Properly receive and log all incoming samples.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for all testing parameters.
  • Prepares standards and reagents required for proper calibration of instrumentation.
  • Perform laboratory instrument calibrations and routine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Prepares analytical reports and properly communicates any off-spec results with management.
  • Conduct inventory and/or purchasing of laboratory consumables.
  • Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned. 
  • Properly move and handle compressed gas cylinders.
  • Participate in quarterly laboratory safety audits.
  • Adhere to all applicable Health and Safety rules and regulations within the facility and laboratory.  Wear PPE as required by the facility.  
  • Function in an industrial environment adjacent to plant operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Laboratory Safety & Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Knowledge of gas chromatography (GC using ECD), inductively coupled plasma (ICP-OES), physical testing, flash point testing, wet chemistry, etc.
  • Experience with EPA and other regulatory methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Experience with Chromeleon and Syngistix software preferred but not required.

Basic Requirements and Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • >1 year experience instrument maintenance.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field, preferred.
  • Work hours: 8am – 5 pm, may vary upon request.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift, if needed.
