LSC consists of eight colleges, seven centers, eight WorkforceCenters of Excellence and Lone Star Corporate College.

The LSC-Tomball Health Science Building is a 60,000-square-feetthree-story complex that houses the Surgical Technology,Occupational Therapy Assistant, Nursing and Pharmacy Technologyprograms. The facility provides numerous classrooms, a medicallibrary, simulation labs, an operating room, a clean room, asterile room and additional educational resources.

Job Description PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Working under the leadership of the Vice-Presidents of Instruction,the Dean, Instruction are the principal academic and budgetaryofficers for their respective divisions within Lone Star College.Instructional Deans are empowered with the authority necessary toprovide positive leadership regarding academic personnel,curricular, and budgetary decisions that further the academic,programmatic, and scholarly mission of the institution in itsservice to the community. Such leadership includes the processes ofacademic personnel policy, participation in budgetary allocations,determination of academic standards and benchmarks, and theacquisition, retention or release of academic programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Leads instructional areas through planning, development,implementation, and evaluation. Builds processes in the divisionand collaborates with other LSC divisions, VPIs, and Deans toensure schedules are developed to meet student needs, class loadsare efficiently distributed, and registration to final gradedelivery is seamless
  2. Ensures that the division offers programs that allow forstudent success; this includes developing benchmarks throughdata-informed decisions, developing accountability, and ensuringSACS, GIPWE, and Coordinating Board requirements are met. Ifnecessary, oversees the discontinuation of programs that do notmeet student needs or are unsustainable
  3. Coordinates and maintains long-range academic plan for thedivision with appropriate Lone Star College (LSC) leadership,including but not limited to rollout, budget, staff development andsuccession planning, plus community awareness
  4. Guides the division in keeping up-to-date on the latest trendsin instructional methods, technology, and effective pedagogies forlearning and ensures that these trends are built into thelong-range plan for the division
  5. Regularly analyzes and provides evaluation of instructionalarea and fosters a culture of continuous improvement to ensurecurriculum and instructional integrity
  6. Develops and implements faculty and staff professional growthplans that leverage employee talent to achieve LSC goals; Overseesthe recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and retention of qualifiedfaculty and staff; Resolves personnel issues and student issues asneeded and develops and maintains effective channels ofcommunication
  7. Develops budget recommendations and manages budget allocationsfor effective, efficient and productive educational programs andsupport services
  8. Develops innovative and entrepreneurial partnerships toleverage system resources; Expands relationships with externalconstituencies by working with P-12 and university partners,attending community functions, and serving on variouscommittees
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong leadership abilities (department chair/facultysenate)
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communicationskills
  • Strong abilities in curriculum and program development andeffectiveness
  • Expertise in adult learning methodologies as well as evaluationof instructional quality and outcomes
  • Ability to function/lead a collaborative work team
  • Ability to organize work around broad organizational goals andprocesses
  • Ability to maintain and promote a positive attitude in ademanding environment
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed tocarry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree and at least 7 years of related experience, oran equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 3 years in a management levelposition
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Doctoral degree
  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience with curriculum and educational programdevelopment
  • Experience with program accreditation
Salary

Hiring salary range is $103,314- $118,812

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience andeducation. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone StarCollege, the resume submitted in the application process will beutilized to calculate your salary offer. The information outlinedbelow will provide the Office of Human Resources everything neededto determine an accurate starting salary.
