Job description

Role: Lead ABAP Developer
Location: Madison, WI,Redwood city,CA
Type: Full Time
The Lead ABAP Developer is responsible for leading SAP technical design and development while mentoring a team of SAP developers and managing development demand through a structured intake and prioritization process. This role will require a strong focus on providing excellent support to end-users, as well as effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external partners. The Lead Developer supports the application or Project Manager and has responsibility for the scope, schedule, and quality of the software project in relation to the applications.
Skills & Experience needed:
  • Over 2 years of experience overseeing and managing the SAP development intake process, collaborating with business and functional stakeholders to evaluate incoming requests. Responsibilities include analyzing requirements, estimating effort, and prioritizing development activities based on business value, technical complexity, resource capacity, and delivery timelines.
  • More than 5 years of strong experience in core SAP ABAP development, including Classical and Object-Oriented ABAP, Function Modules, BAPIs, BADIs, enhancement frameworks, classical and ALV/OOPS ALV reporting, interfaces and IDocs, and Adobe/SmartForms-within regulated industry environments.
  • Extensive expertise in ABAP on HANA, including the design and consumption of CDS views, ADMP, ADBC, performance tuning, and SQL tracing/optimization.
  • Proven experience working within the SAP BTP environment, including Cloud Foundry and Kyma, as well as SAP CAP and RAP. Demonstrated proficiency with SAP Integration Suite (CPI), including integrations across S/4HANA, BTP, third-party systems, iFlows, CPI-DS, OData, REST APIs, and related technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, asynchronous integration patterns, and the development and support of APIs and OData services using SAP Integration Mesh.
  • Strong familiarity with the RISE with SAP deployment model, extensibility options (in-app and side-by-side), and Clean Core principles. Working knowledge of SAP Fiori development, with preferred experience in Fiori Extensions/Adapt UI, Fiori Elements, and freestyle applications.
  • Solid understanding of the RAP model and Clean Core philosophy, ensuring scalable, upgrade-safe, and cloud-aligned development practices.
